As of July 6th 2010 this year all homes that were built on or before December 31, 1978 are considered to have lead based paint inherent within the structure.  As a contractor we are obligated to comply with EPA regulations regarding the preparation and the removal of any disturbed lead based paint that may be present.  The "opt - out" clause is no longer a valid option for those individuals who are not pregnant and have no children six years of age or younger.  All contractors are to adhere to this ruling, there are no exceptions.  If you are not certain that you contractor is certified and that the company itself is certified ask to see their photo ID stating the same and their respective numbers.
